Scherise Acosta's connection to Little Lake City School District didn't start with this campaign. It started four generations ago. Her mother attended school here. Her two daughters came up through Little Lake's elementary and middle schools. And today, her granddaughter attends Cresson Elementary, the same school where Scherise and her own daughter once sat in class. Few candidates know this district the way Scherise does: not from the outside looking in, but from a lifetime spent inside its classrooms, its hallways, and its community.

That lifetime of involvement has never been about building a résumé. Scherise has spent years as the parent who shows up, coordinating team schedules, organizing fundraisers, and doing the unglamorous work that keeps school programs running for other people's kids, not just her own. When the pandemic wiped out the Santa Fe High School cheer booster club, she didn't wait for someone else to fix it. She rolled up her sleeves and rebuilt it from scratch alongside other parents, then served as its president for two years, helping sustain one of the most expensive programs a high school family can support. This is where Scherise has spent her time: in the bleachers, at the fundraisers, in the rooms where the actual work of raising kids together gets done, not on a circuit of campaigns and political connections.

Her commitment to public service reaches beyond the sidelines. For roughly seven years, Scherise has served as a City of Norwalk Social Services Commissioner, work that has given her a close understanding of the needs of local families and how public institutions can better serve them. By profession, she works as a school attendance clerk for the Los Angeles Unified School District, giving her a daily, ground-level view of what students need to succeed and what gets in the way.

Scherise is running for Little Lake City School Board because she believes every child deserves a board member who puts students first — one who brings real transparency, fights for the resources schools need, including support for special education and manageable class sizes, and pairs fiscal responsibility with modern, well-maintained schools built to last. As a parent, a grandmother, and a lifelong community volunteer, she doesn't need this district explained to her. She has lived it, generation after generation, and she's running for the kids.
